Reduce Downtime

Continuous measurement of silica is one of the most critical tasks in high pressure steam generation. Unchecked, silica forms difficult-to-remove scale deposits on turbine blades, resulting in excessive maintenance and downtime costs.

Scientific instruments CFA-1030 Silica Analyzer monitors silica continuously in the range of 0 - 100 ppb. It alerts users to changes in silica levels in time for corrective action to be taken - before significant downtime is incurred.

Proven Chemistry

The CFA-1030 uses the well-established silica molybdate colorimetric procedure to measure reactive silica. Sulfuric acid and ammonium molybdate are added to the sample, forming molybdosilicic acid. Oxalic acid is added to eliminate phosphate interference. Ascorbic acid then reduces the molybdosilicic acid to a molybdenum blue complex, and the sample stream is measured at 820 nm.

These reagents don't require costly, troublesome pressurized air systems and they don't include ANSA (aminonapthol sulfonic acid) which can cause allergic reactions from sulfur dioxide fumes.

Simple, Reliable Operation

Like all CFA-1000 series instruments, the CFA-1030 uses an on- board computer to perform all required operations. The touch of a button starts the microprocessor-controlled program, calibrates the analyzer, keeps it calibrated, puts the unit on-line, and reports results directly- unattended - for a month or more.
